Happy Summer — my team and I are excited to let you know that we have a new m-Power Release Candidate available for you to download and install. As always, we put a lot of time and energy in building updates that are impactful for your organization. Please reach out to me if you have suggestions for improvements or other enhancement ideas. Highlights of this latest update include:
Run-time Password Reset
This feature was requested by several customers and it seemed like a great fit to add to the platform. In short, if you have ever needed to secure your run-time applications against credentials in a table, more likely than not, you’ve needed to handle users needing to reset their passwords! Instead of having to build this reset functionality manually with various m-Power components, you can take advantage of all necessary logic being built in, ready to use. The password reset logic will work for any new dictionary and any existing dictionary, assuming it is using Bootstrap data dictionaries.
Documentation, including a video walk though, can be found here: https://www.mrc-productivity.com/docs/knowledge-base/password-reset
Built in Row Level Security
While the existing Row Level Security is not being replaced, we realized that the flow of building row level security could be improved. Utilizing this feature equates to adding a user’s row level security value directly via the Admin -> Application Users. From there, then it’s just a matter of choosing the “Built in Row Level Security” option within the filter screen. This method removes 2 steps from the existing process and, we believe, makes adding security to applications more logical and, ultimately, faster.

Messaging & Scheduled Tasks – Email Design
Presently, when a user wants to “Send a regular email” via Messaging & Scheduled tasks, the developer has to complete several steps, including having first built a retrieval that will serve as the body of the email. We believe this process should be more intuitive and was worthy of improvement.
Therefore, when using the “Send a regular email task type” the m-Power interface will now allow you to create the body of your email directly from within the task. Developers will still have the ability to merge data from a data source if necessary.
Additionally, this feature has also brought back the ability to create a static email that does not pull data from the database as that feature was also specifically requested by several customers!
