June 2024 Oak Brook, IL

Today, software developer michaels, ross & cole, ltd. (mrc) announces a suite of new enhancements to the m-Power Development Platform. These updates further solidify m-Power’s position as a leading low-code platform for building enterprise web applications. From mobile barcode scanning to advanced SQL filters, these enhancements will help developers create more dynamic, flexible, and visually compelling applications.

New Features in the June 2024 Update

Built-in Barcode Generator

m-Painter now includes a barcode generator as part of its featured components. This enhancement is particularly valuable for businesses that need to create applications that use barcode data stored in their databases. With this feature, end-users can efficiently scan on-hand inventory from on-screen barcodes and print barcodes for future use. This enhancement streamlines inventory management, improves accuracy, and increases productivity by leveraging the convenience of barcodes in applications.

Reimagined Chart Designer

The new Chart Designer offers a streamlined experience for creating and deploying charts, integrating seamlessly with m-Painter. Key features include:

  • The ability to source chart data from an m-Power application or a Data Model.
  • Real-time previews of chart data and output during the creation process.
  • Use of the Apache ECharts library, helping developers implement all types of customizations.
This enhancement makes it easier than ever to design visually appealing charts for applications and dashboards.

HAVING SQL Clause Filter Options

Report developers can now specify filters as HAVING clauses rather than the default WHERE clauses. This is particularly useful when applying filters to aggregate data. For example, if a report shows sales data by customer, a HAVING filter can be used to display only customers whose total sales exceed a specified amount. This feature provides greater flexibility and precision in report creation.

Field-Level Color Coding

Conditional color coding is now available pre-compile, ensuring that styles are preserved even after an HTML rebuild. Once a color range is saved, it can be reused across other fields, applications, and dictionaries. This enhancement complements m-Painter’s existing conditional styling capabilities, offering developers a faster and more efficient way to create visually engaging reports.

Snowflake Database Support

mrc is proud to announce that Snowflake is the latest database supported by the m-Power Development Platform. This addition expands m-Power’s compatibility with modern databases, enabling businesses to leverage their Snowflake data for application development.

Expanded Join Options

Developers now have greater flexibility when defining table joins. With this enhancement, users can specify left outer, right outer, inner, or cross joins at the table level, providing more control over how data is combined in their applications.

Copy App from Another Dictionary

This new feature allows developers to copy applications from one dictionary to another, streamlining the process of reusing and sharing applications across different environments.

A Commitment to Innovation

“These enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to providing developers with the tools they need to build sophisticated applications quickly and efficiently,” says Tyler Wassell, mrc’s Director of Software Development. “From barcode scanning to advanced SQL filters, these updates ensure that m-Power remains the most flexible and customizable low-code platform on the market.” ###
